The Secretary of State participated in the Security Council's open debate "Upholding the Purposes and Principles of the Charter of the United Nations through Effective Multilateralism: Maintaining the Peace and Security of Ukraine".

During his intervention, the Foreign Affairs Minister stated that "Chile once again expresses its total repudiation and condemnation of the war crimes perpetrated on Ukrainian territory, controlled by Russian forces, that have been made public by the United Nations Fact-Finding Mission in Ukraine". He added that "Chile firmly believes that the International Criminal Court should be the most appropriate body to hear and investigate all crimes committed in Ukraine under its jurisdiction, always bearing in mind the principles of complementarity and cooperation".

"The effects of this war of aggression and the restoration of justice in Ukraine present us with new challenges as an international community. Meeting these challenges in the search for the best possible solution requires solidarity from all of us."

During the day, the Minister also participated in the event "Feminist Foreign Policy and Feminist Approaches to Foreign Policy as Accelerators of Positive Change by Transforming Commitments into Actions". The activity, organized by Chile along with Germany, Spain, France, Luxembourg and the Netherlands, aimed to share experiences and discuss the challenges and opportunities that exist in countries with feminist foreign policies.

Earlier in the morning, the Minister participated in a high-level breakfast organized by Belgium, Blue Leaders and the BBNJ High Ambition Coalition and accompanied President Gabriel Boric during the signing of the BBNJ treaty.
