Chile officially launches its pro tempore presidency of the Pacific Alliance and celebrates the organization's 13 years of existence
Foreign Affairs Minister Alberto van Klaveren led the official launch of the pro tempore presidency (PPT) of the Pacific Alliance (PA) held by Chile in 2024, and celebrated thirteen years of the creation of the integration group.
In his speech, the minister said that "Chile is committed to making the Pacific Alliance an effective and ambitious mechanism for political dialogue, growth and integration for and from Latin America", so that in its PPT it seeks to modernize and update what has been achieved to date.
"To advance this objective, our work must include a sustainable, inclusive and productive approach that takes into consideration the environment, indigenous peoples, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, investments and global value chains," he added.
The event was also attended by the Undersecretary for International Economic Relations, Claudia Sanhueza; the general director of ProChile, Ignacio Fernández; directors of services that work with the different technical groups; the president of the Business Council (CEAP), Rosario Navarro; ambassadors and heads of delegation from Colombia, Mexico and Peru -the other PA member countries-; ambassadors and representatives of observer states; and representatives of companies, SMEs and trade associations related to this regional integration mechanism.
During the event, the authorities visited the Origins of the Alliance Exhibition, with export products from the bloc and an exhibition of Pacific Alliance youth volunteering, a project led by INJUV, called "Youth, Feminism and Memory".
Finally, the general director of ProChile established a public-private conversation dedicated to the success stories of the commercial integration of the group.
