Undersecretary de la Fuente welcomes humanitarian flight from Lebanon carrying 67 people
At the Pudahuel Base of the Chilean Air Force (FACh), the Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs, Gloria de la Fuente, welcomed this morning the humanitarian flight ordered by the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric Font, to evacuate Chilean men and women who were in Lebanon, a country affected by the conflict in the Middle East.
The Boeing B-767 aircraft, operated by the FACh, in coordination with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense, landed on national soil at 11:21 a.m., with a total of 67 people, including Chileans, their families and relatives, as well as 10 people of Peruvian nationality and seven of Argentine nationality.
The plane, which took off on Sunday after 01:30 p.m. from Santiago, also accomplished the mission of carrying a cargo of humanitarian aid to Beirut, which included contributions from the Government and the Lebanese community in Chile, mainly medicines and medical supplies.
On its way to Lebanon, the flight had to stop in the Canary Islands, Spain, and Athens, Greece. On its return to Chile, it made a stop in Dakar, Senegal.
