Minister van Klaveren participates in the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Chile-United States FTA
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alberto van Klaveren, attended today, together with the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric, the North American Chilean Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) Dinner, held in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Chile and the United States.
During his speech, the Minister highlighted the great benefits of the agreement, mentioning that "the success of our exchanges has allowed us to promote more inclusive trade, so that broad sectors of society can access the advantages associated with trade development. In this regard, I would like to highlight the fact that the United States is a major destination for the exports of our small and medium-sized companies and is also the main destination for national companies led by women".
In the same vein, the Minister explained that, with the North American country, "our bilateral relations have been built and are projected into the future based on the values and principles we share, such as the protection of democracy and human rights, environmental protection and social inclusion. All of them always with the welfare of our citizens as our guiding principle".
Finally, he expressed that "our interest and commitment is to continue deepening our bilateral relationship and, as stated in the motto that frames the celebration of the bicentennial of our diplomatic relations, we will continue to move forward and collaborate as "partners for a better future".
The event was also attended by the President of the Senate, Juan Antonio Coloma; the former President of the Republic, Ricardo Lagos; the Minister of Economy, Nicolás Grau; the Minister of Energy, Diego Pardow; the Minister of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation, Aisén Etcheverry; the U.S. Ambassador to Chile, Bernardette Meehan; and the President of the Board of Directors of AmCham Chile, Sergio Rademacher, among other authorities.
