Minister van Klaveren meets with his Indian counterpart and heads the second Chile-India High-Level Joint Committee
In New Delhi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alberto van Klaveren, together with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of India, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, headed the second Chile-India High Level Joint Committee.
During the meeting, the delegations discussed various issues of common interest in the political, economic, commercial and cooperation fields.
“Our bilateral agenda is very diverse, and covers a wide range of issues, both bilaterally and multilaterally. During the meeting we discussed issues ranging from trade and investment to cultural exchange and technological collaboration. We have detected numerous areas where our interests converge and where we can work together to address shared challenges and discover new opportunities,” said Minister van Klaveren.
At the bilateral level, the dialogue focused on deepening trade ties, agriculture, defense, digital public infrastructure, health, science and technology, education, culture, Antarctica and cooperation, among other matters. They also reviewed the regional and global situation.
“This meeting allowed us to exchange views on key issues that directly impact our respective regions and the entire world,” the Foreign Affairs Minister emphasized, adding that “we must continue to improve our cooperation in international forums, especially in areas such as the fight against terrorism, climate change, sustainable development, energy transition and combating cybercrime.”
Afterwards, he held a meeting with the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, with whom he discussed the deepening of trade ties.
Later, Minister van Klaveren gave a master class on Chile's vision of Latin America, Asia and the world at the Jawaharlal Nehru University's Center for International Studies.
