Minister participates in the inauguration of the XI Business Summit of the Pacific Alliance

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alberto van Klaveren, participated in the inauguration of the XI Business Summit of the Pacific Alliance, where he took part in a discussion with other ministers of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the group, during which they addressed the challenges of security, productivity and geopolitics facing the region.
“The Pacific Alliance has the particularity that one of its main engines is precisely the business sector and that is why we greatly value the presence of businessmen and businesswomen from the four current members of the Pacific Alliance, and of course also our Costa Rican friends,” he said.
At the opening of the summit, entitled “Security, productivity and geopolitics: three keys to the future of the Pacific Alliance”, the Chilean Foreign Affairs Minister commented on the opportunities for promoting regional stability and attracting foreign investment, as well as the challenges facing the export sector of the countries of the bloc and the importance of diversifying our economies.
In the area of security, the minister highlighted: “This is a very important challenge for the Pacific Alliance itself, in the sense of strengthening cooperation, precisely to improve security and to be able to confront organized crime. This is a regional phenomenon, not a local phenomenon, which affects our four economies and is also very present in other countries in our region and requires greater cooperation, in terms of information exchange and the exchange of best practices, for example”.
The event, organized by the Sociedad de Fomento Fabril (Sofofa), was also attended by the Colombian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luis Gilberto Murillo; the Colombian Minister of Trade, Industry and Tourism, Luis Reyes; the Peruvian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Elmer Schialer; the Peruvian Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade, Teresa Mera; the Costa Rican Minister of Foreign Trade, Manuel Tovar, and the head of Mexico's International Trade Negotiations Unit, Víctor Manuel Aguilar.
