On his second day of activities in India, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alberto van Klaveren, went to Mumbai, capital of the state of Maharastra and renowned as the financial hub of that country, to develop an agenda focused on trade cooperation and the exchange of goods and services.
In this city, he visited Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), where he met with its CEO, K. Krithivasan, and toured its facilities. TCS is an IT services, consulting and business solutions organization. It's one of the two largest companies in its field worldwide, with more than 600,000 employees globally. Its regional headquarters for Latin America and the Caribbean are located in Santiago.
He also participated in a dinner to inaugurate the Chile Summit India 2024 in Mumbai, held at the Taj Mahal Tower Hotel, together with the Minister of Agriculture, Esteban Valenzuela, the CEO of ProChile, Ignacio Fernández, as well as Indian authorities and businessmen.
The Chile Summit India 2024 is an event organized by ProChile that seeks to position Chile in this market, strengthen institutional ties between the two countries, identify opportunities for trade cooperation and advance agreements that help the exchange of goods and services.
In this regard, the Foreign Affairs Minister said that “this dinner, which we are celebrating here in Mumbai, is more than just a social event: it is a testimony of the commitment and collaboration we have built together. Throughout these days, we have had the opportunity to explore new opportunities, share knowledge and, most importantly, strengthen the ties that bind us together. India, with its impressive dynamism and ever-expanding market, represents a key strategic partner for Chile”.
The minister also spoke at a wine masterclass, organized by Wines of Chile, which was held as part of the Chile Summit India 2024 and which included important industry players. “Wine is part of the Chilean identity and is one of our best representatives abroad. We are interested in strengthening our relations with India and wine is precisely part of this effort”, he said.
