Minister of Foreign Affairs holds meetings with High Commissioner for Human Rights and ILO Director General
Within the context of his participation in the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, held at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alberto van Klaveren, met with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk.
During the meeting, they discussed the human rights situation in Latin America and the world. In this regard, the Minister reiterated Chile's commitment to the promotion and protection of human rights.
Afterwards, the Minister met with the Director General of the International Labor Organization (ILO), Gilbert Houngbo, with whom he discussed Chile's leadership in the Global Alliance against Child Labor, Forced Labor, Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery, known as Alliance 8.7; the country's current presidency of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (Ecosoc), and the centenary of the Chilean Labor Directorate, to be celebrated in October 2024.
