Minister meets with Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alberto van Klaveren, who is visiting Rabat to participate in the first edition of the Future Congress in Morocco, had a meeting with his counterpart, Nasser Bourita.
At the meeting, the authorities pointed out that this scientific divulgation event, created in Chile in 2011, has been held for the first time in Morocco. In addition, they highlighted the good moment of the bilateral relationship and the opportunities for collaboration in areas such as trade, investment, education, agriculture, human development and renewable energies.
“We have discussed issues of bilateral relations, economic relations, which have a great future and potential. There is a trade and investment committee between our countries and the idea is to reconvene it and explore more possibilities to consolidate our relationship in the economic sphere”, said Minister van Klaveren.
“I would like to thank Morocco for the hospitality it has shown us”, added the minister, adding that ”the relationship between our countries has always been important, but it also has great potential and that is precisely why we are here, to explore the possibilities that are opening up”.
The authorities signed a letter of intent and a joint declaration to revitalize their ties of friendship, in addition to expressing their willingness to deepen cooperation mechanisms in various areas, along with promoting trade and investment flows. Chile also reaffirmed its support for UN Security Council Resolution 2756, valuing “the serious and credible efforts made by the Kingdom of Morocco to move towards a realistic, viable and definitive political solution to the question of Western Sahara”.
