Minister Alberto van Klaveren meets with United Nations Secretary General

As part of his participation in the meeting where the United Nations adopted the text of the agreement on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biodiversity beyond National Jurisdictions, Minister Alberto van Klaveren met with UN Secretary General António Guterres in New York.

"We had a very good meeting. We reviewed Chile's common agenda with the United Nations, we emphasized the presidency that Chile will assume in the Economic and Social Council, through our ambassador to the United Nations, Paula Narváez and, at the same time we also talked about other issues that were of interest to the secretary general, such as the constituent process in Chile and also the way in which the United Nations can contribute to the development of our country", said the foreign minister after the meeting.

"We also valued the assistance provided by the United Nations during the time of the great fires in February, and we spoke about the upcoming United Nations General Assembly and the summits that are approaching," he added.
