Minister Alberto van Klaveren meets with UK Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs
As part of his European tour, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alberto van Klaveren, met with the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, David Cameron.
During the meeting, the authorities reviewed the most relevant matters of the bilateral relationship. "Relations between Chile and the United Kingdom have a great history and great potential. We have talked about the transition to green energy, Antarctic cooperation, the participation of Great Britain in the CPTPP and the Association Agreement with the United Kingdom, which has been in force for several years now", said the Minister.
In the morning, the Minister participated in a round table at Canning House, a forum focused on Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula. On the occasion, he shared with representatives of the Parliament and the British Foreign Office, businessmen and academics, where he presented on the situation of Chile and the main challenges of our country's foreign policy.
He also met with Anna McMorrin, Member of Parliament since 2017 and shadow minister for Latin America and the Caribbean since September 2023. With her, they reviewed Chile's foreign policy priorities, the relationship with the United Kingdom, as well as regional and global issues, including the situation in the Middle East, in addition to matters related to climate change and oceans, renewable energies and opportunities for cooperation in Antarctic matters.
