In Guatemala: Undersecretary participates in the III Ministerial Meeting of the Declaration of Los Angeles on Migration and Protection
The Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs, Gloria de la Fuente, participated in the III Ministerial Meeting of the Los Angeles Declaration on Migration and Protection, held in Guatemala City, with the objective of exploring and agreeing on joint strategies to achieve safe, regular, orderly and humane migration.
The meeting, held at Guatemala's National Palace of Culture, was inaugurated by the President of Guatemala, Bernardo Arévalo, and was attended by ministers and secretaries of foreign affairs of the countries that adhered to the Los Angeles Declaration, representatives of international organizations, as well as regional experts.
During her speech, the Undersecretary said that "Chile reiterates its commitment to the Los Angeles Declaration on Migration and Protection, and its fundamental principles of supporting and promoting safe, orderly, regular and humane migration, aimed at the sustainable development of both migrants and refugees as well as their host communities".
"The above under the guidelines of multilateralism and the governance of human mobility, from international and regional cooperation; migration management; humanitarian vision; the promotion of social cohesion, and the necessary change of the migration narrative," he added.
As part of her participation in this meeting, the Undersecretary also held bilateral meetings with the Foreign Minister of Mexico, Alicia Bárcena; with the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala, María Luisa Ramírez, and with the Acting Deputy Administrator of the Office for Latin America of the United States Agency for International Development, Michael Camilleri.
