Foreign Affairs Minister van Klaveren meets with UN Deputy Secretary-General
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alberto van Klaveren, met today with the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina J. Mohammed, who is in Chile participating in the sixth meeting of the Forum of Latin American and Caribbean Countries on Sustainable Development.
The meeting, held at the headquarters of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), addressed the relevance of sustainable and inclusive development. The Foreign Affairs Minister highlighted the leadership of the UN Deputy Secretary-General in promoting the 2030 Agenda, and both agreed on the importance of accelerating its implementation, which has stalled due to the setbacks caused by the Covid pandemic.
It's worth noting that on 30 March this year, the National Council for the Implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development validated its implementation strategy, which was delivered today by the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric, to the Deputy Secretary-General. The document is a roadmap that sets out the needs, priorities and proposals for action to promote sustainable and inclusive development in the country.
