Foreign Affairs Minister Alberto van Klaveren receives the President of Argentina on his arrival in Chile
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alberto van Klaveren, accompanied by the Chilean Ambassador to Argentina, Bárbara Figueroa, received today at Arturo Merino Benítez Airport, the President of Argentina, Alberto Fernández, who arrived in Chile to participate in the activities to commemorate the 205th anniversary of the Battle of Maipú.
The trans-Andean President arrived accompanied by his Foreign Affairs Minister, Santiago Caffiero. At the time of his arrival, the Ambassador of Argentina in Chile, Rafael Bielsa, was also present.
After that, the Foreign Affairs Minister and the Argentinian delegation went to the Votive Temple of Maipú, where they were received by the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric. There, both leaders led the commemoration of the Battle of Maipú and recreated the iconic embrace of Bernardo O'Higgins and José de San Martín.
Afterwards, they participated in a Te Deum of Thanksgiving, which took place in the religious precinct. The ceremony was also attended by the Mayor of Maipú, Tomás Vodanovic.
