President Piñera appoints new Chilean Ambassadors to Vietnam, Lebanon and Palestine
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrés Allamand, reported that the President of the Republic, Sebastián Piñera, designated as Ambassadors of Chile in Vietnam, Lebanon and the State of Palestine, the career diplomats Patricio Becker, Carlos Morán and Christian Hodges-Nugent, respectively. All of them have already received the corresponding approval.
Patricio becker
Patricio Becker studied architecture at the University of Biobío and is a graduate of the “Andrés Bello” Diplomatic Academy. He has specialized courses in International Relations and International Trade at the University of Chile, the Heidelberg Center, and the Ibero-American University of Mexico.
Abroad, he has served in the Chilean Mission to the United Nations and in the Embassies and Consulates in Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, Australia, Japan, and Vancouver.
In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he served in the Directorate of Multilateral Affairs, in the General Directorate of Consular Affairs and Immigration, in the General Administrative Directorate, in the General Directorate of Ceremonial and Protocol, and in the Directorate of Europe.
Prior to his appointment, he served as Chilean Ambassador to Guyana and to the Caribbean Community (Caricom).
Carlos Morán
Carlos Morán has a degree in History and Geography from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso and a graduate of the "Andrés Bello" Diplomatic Academy. He has specialization courses in International Negotiations from the University of Chile and International Trade from the Center for International Trade Studies of Barcelona, Spain.
In Chile, he served in the Directorate of Multilateral Affairs, the Directorate of Ceremonial and Protocol, the Directorate of European Affairs, the Minister's Cabinet, and the General Administrative Directorate. He was General Coordinator of Summits, Director of Cultural Affairs, and Director of North America, Central America, and the Caribbean.
Abroad, he worked in the Chilean Embassies in Finland, Australia, and Argentina, as well as the Consulate General of Chile in Barcelona. At the time of his appointment, he was serving as Minister Counselor at the Chilean Embassy in the United States.
Christian Hodges-Nugent
Christian Hodges-Nugent has a degree in History from the University of Chile and a graduate of the “Andrés Bello” Diplomatic Academy.
During his career, he served in different positions for the Embassies of Chile to the Holy See, Paraguay, and the United States.
Within the Foreign Ministry, he served in the General Directorate of Ceremonial and Protocol, General Directorate of Foreign Policy, and Directorate of North, Central America and the Caribbean. He was also part of the Cabinet of the Minister and the Undersecretary of Foreign Relations.
At the time of his appointment, he was serving as Consul General of Chile in Madrid.
