Chilean citizens evacuated from the conflict zone land in Santiago
The joint effort between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense and the Chilean Air Force allowed a group of evacuees from the conflict zone in Israel and Palestine to return to Chile.
At about 5:00 p.m., the Boeing 737 Air Force plane landed at the 10th Aviation Group of the FACh, bringing back 83 Chilean men and women, as well as a pet animal.
They were received by the Vice President of the Republic, Carolina Tohá, the Minister (s) of Foreign Affairs, Gloria de la Fuente, and the Minister of Defense, Maya Fernández, who spoke with the Chilean nationals, who thanked them for the speed with which our country acted in this situation.
On this matter, the Vice President pointed out that "the whole country has really been in suspense, watching you return. Many, when I greeted you on the stairs, told me of their emotion, they all said thank you and several also told me of their deep sorrow for what they had left behind, for what they had seen".
On his part, the Commander in Chief of the Chilean Air Force, Air General Hugo Rodriguez, welcomed them, commenting that "they are now in national territory, in a base of the Chilean Air Force, which is the air force of all Chileans". To this, he added that "we will carry out a mission like this as many times as necessary and we will always be, like all the Armed Forces, the Army and the Navy, in aid of all Chileans".
