Chile joins as a dialogue partner of the Pacific Islands Forum
Today, the Pacific Islands Forum –PIF– officially announced the incorporation of Chile as a "Dialogue Partner" of this organization, within the framework of a decision adopted during the 51st Summit of Leaders of the Forum.
In this way, our country joins the 21 Dialogue Partners that make up the PIF, the main body for political and economic coordination in the Pacific Island.
Chile celebrates this new stage of cooperation with the Forum States, which will allow us to consolidate and expand our presence in the Asia Pacific.
Chile maintains diplomatic relations with 17 of the 18 members of the PIF and has been the first in South America to establish diplomatic relations with New Zealand (1945), Australia (1945), Fiji (1972), Samoa (1978), and Tonga (1979).
