Chile exhibits its advances in space exploration at Expo Dubai 2020
With the participation of representatives of the International and Human Security Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Air Force, and the academic world, the event: "Chilean - Our Space Story" was held within the framework of Expo Dubai 2020.
The event is part of the program of activities of Space Week, one of the five thematic areas in which Expo Dubai was divided, and the opening presentation was given by the National Prize for Exact Sciences 2021, Mónica Rubio, with the theme "Exploring the Universe from Chile".
Then it was the turn of the deputy director of Special Affairs of the Air Force, aviation colonel Luis Felipe Sáez, who spoke about the National Satellite System and also about Chile's potential to host Natural Laboratories, an area where astronomy has been a pioneer.
On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Magdalena Durán explained, who referred to the new institutional framework that is being generated in Chile to promote the country's spatial development. Also participating in the event were César Ocampo, general manager of the Atacama Astronomical Park, and Klaus von Storch, president of the Industrial Relations Committee of the Chilean Association for Space.
Expo Dubai 2020, which was canceled last year due to the pandemic, opened on October 1 and will run until the end of March 2022. It brings together about 190 countries, which present their innovations in the field of technology, sustainability, and mobility.
