Chile and Australia hold V Round of Political Consultations
Today was held the V Round of Political Consultations between Chile and Australia. The meeting was led by the Acting Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs, Rodrigo Olsen, and the First Assistant Secretary of the Trade Resilience, Indo-Pacific Economic, and Latin America, Elizabeth Ward.
The authorities highlighted the excellent state of the bilateral relationship, which will be 80 years old in 2025. They reviewed matters related to ocean protection, energy transition, human rights, and Antarctic issues, among other topics on the shared political agenda.
In addition, they discussed Chilean investment in the mining sector, as well as the possibilities of deepening cooperation in this area. On economic matters, Chile reiterated its interest in joining the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and commented on the work that has been carried out under the Pro Tempore Presidency of the Pacific Alliance.
