Chile rejects new attacks in Colombia and reiterates call for renewed efforts to consolidate peace

The Government of Chile categorically rejects the armed attack on a military patrol that occurred today in the Palmarito sector of the Northern Department of Santander, Colombia, which so far has left five military personnel dead and many injured.

The Government of Chile extends its deepest condolences and solidarity to the Government of Colombia and the families of the victims, along with wishing the wounded a speedy recovery.

In the face of this new act of violence, Chile reiterates its call to respect the rule of law and the life of all citizens in Colombia, as well as to promote and consolidate all efforts necessary to guarantee peace in Colombia, while reaffirming the importance of cooperation among States to jointly confront terrorism in any form.
