Chile deplores the violence in the Gaza Strip

The Government of Chile deplores the acts of violence that occurred during demonstrations in the Gaza Strip on Earth Day, in particular its rejection of any incitement to violence, as well as the disproportionate use of force by Israeli troops, which has caused some 1,500 injuries and 18 deaths, to whose families we express our sincere condolences.

In the same way, it calls for the maintenance of peaceful coexistence that will generate an atmosphere of understanding between the parties. The Government of Chile also recalls that it will continue to support the talks aimed at achieving a two-state solution that considers the right of the Palestinian people to establish themselves as an independent State and, at the same time, guarantees Israel's right to exist in peace within secure and internationally recognized borders.
