Undersecretary Valdivia meets with Åsa Regnér, Deputy Executive Director of UN Women at ECLAC
The Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs, Carolina Valdivia, met with the Deputy Executive Director of UN Women, Åsa Regnér, in the framework of the XIV Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean, an intergovernmental forum on women's rights and gender equality in the continent, of which Chile assumed the presidency for the next three years.
At the meeting, organized by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) with support from UN Women, Undersecretary Valdivia and Director Regnér discussed women's autonomy in changing economic scenarios, as well as the need to promote greater inclusion of women in management, politics and public institutions, among other issues.
Åsa Regnér, a Swedish national, has held the position of Deputy Executive Director of UN-Women for Policy Support, UN System Coordination and Programme Results since March 2018, and has extensive experience in the fields of women's empowerment and gender equality.
