Chancellor Ribera meets with China's Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ma Zhaoxu
On Monday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Teodoro Ribera, received the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, Ma Zhaoxu, in audience.
On the occasion, both authorities referred to the year of work that Chile has had as host of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC), which will culminate in the Leaders Summit to be held between November 16 and 17, with the participation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Within the framework of this cooperation forum, China has been the promoter of the Beijing Roadmap for APEC Contribution to the Asia-Pacific Free Trade Area and the APEC Connectivity Framework.
It should be remembered that Chile and China have maintained a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership since 2016, and in 2015 they agreed on a Joint Action Plan. Currently China is our country's main trading partner and in March the modernization of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries came into effect, an agreement dating from 2006.
During 2018, trade with China reached US$ 42,791 million, 24% more than in 2017.
