Chile and Canada co-chaired their Second Coordinating Committee meeting of the Equal Rights Coalition
Yesterday, Chile and Canada co-chaired their Second Coordinating Committee meeting of the Equal Rights Coalition.
The encounter was an important space to discuss the different approaches and necessary mechanisms to eliminate violence and discrimination and promote equality for LGBTI communities around the world.
On the occasion, the members also had the opportunity to engage in a conversation with different stakeholders to improve coordination and synergy, like the Global Equality Fund, the inter American commission of human rights and Yogyakarta principles.
We welcomed new members from Cabo Verde, Denmark, Iceland and Luxembourg.
The Equal Rights Coalition is the first intergovernmental network formed to promote and protect the human rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) people around the world. More than 39 countries have joined the coalition since its launch in July 2016 at the global LGBTI Human Rights Conference in Montevideo, Uruguay. Chile and Canada are co-presidents until July 2019.
