Quiet first day to apply for Family Reunification Visa
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Ampuero, made a positive assessment of the first day to apply for a family reunification visa for Haitian citizens who wish to bring their immediate family members to Chile.
The Secretary of State stressed that the start of the process was "really smooth" and that over a hundred consultations were received and the corresponding information was given to them.
"It has been an orderly day, in line with the objectives of the new system promoted by the government of President Sebastián Piñera," said the Minister of State. He also recalled that Chile has an agreement with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), which will allow for a more orderly and fluid visa application process. "They will support us with telephone operators to provide information, personalized attention to applicants and also check that the documents requested are in order," he added.
