Minister (s) of Foreign Affairs receives French ambassador
The Minister (S) of Foreign Affairs, Carolina Valdivia, received this afternoon the ambassador of France, Roland Dubertrand, in the premises of the Carrera building.
On the occasion, the Minister (S) presented Ambassador Dubertrand with a letter from the President of the Republic, Sebastián Piñera, to the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, to convey his concern about the decision taken by the French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons (Ofpra) to grant political asylum to Ricardo Palma Salamanca, a Chilean citizen condemned for the assassination of Senator Jaime Guzmán Errázuriz and the kidnapping of Cristián Edwards Del Río, both of which occurred in 1991 in Chile. In the document, moreover, the Chilean President reaffirms the importance of continuing with the extradition process.
In addition, the Minister (S) presented Ambassador Dubertrand with a diplomatic note in which the position of the Government of Chile on the issue is explained.
