Friday, June 15, 2018

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Ampuero, took part today in the Council of Ministers of the Pacific Alliance, which is meeting in Mexico City at 10:00 a.m. (11:00 a.m., Chile), to move forward in the coordination process with a view to the XIII Summit of Heads of State of the Pacific Alliance, to be held in Puerto Vallarta on July 23 and 24 of this year.

During the meeting, the Foreign Ministers and Trade Ministers of Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru will discuss the Alliance's Strategic Vision 2030 document and will analyze the applications of new countries for Observer Status.

They will also review the draft of the Puerto Vallarta Declaration and other details of the upcoming Presidential Summit.

Foreign Minister Ampuero's participation in the meeting of the Pacific Alliance in Mexico is the first part of a tour that also includes attending the Mercosur Summit, on Monday in Asunción. In this context, the Chilean Head of Diplomacy said a few days ago that one of the key objectives is to strengthen the links between the two bodies. "Chile will take the lead towards a long-term strategic objective: for both blocs to converge in an area of free trade and greater integration," he said.
