Foreign Minister Roberto Ampuero arrived in Lima on Thursday to participate in the VIII Summit of the Americas.

The Minister attended the Lima Convention Center to participate in the ministerial preparatory meeting for the meeting, which will be held by the heads of state of the 33 member countries.

In addition, the secretary of state held meetings with his counterparts from Peru, Néstor Popolizio; Canada, Chrystia Freeland; and Colombia, María Ángela Holguín.

Regarding the meeting with the Peruvian Foreign Minister in Torre Tagle, Minister Ampuero said that the governments of both countries "are beginning" their respective periods and that "the signal from both sides is to deepen the relationship. There is a great deal of agreement with the new government of Peru in that regard".

The secretary of state added that the two countries will work together within the framework of the Pacific Partnership and that Chile will support Peru's application to the OECD.
