Foreign Minister Roberto Ampuero inaugurates new Carabineros office in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Foreign Minister Roberto Ampuero inaugurated today the new Carabineros de Chile facilities inside the Foreign Ministry building, where the liaison officers will be located. Together with the Secretary of State, the Director General of the Carabineros, General Hermes Soto, the Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs, Alfonso Silva and the Consular Director General, Raúl Sanhueza participated in the ceremony.

In his speech, the Minister thanked the Ministry for the cooperation and coordination that exists between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Carabineros and highlighted the work of the uniformed institution both throughout Chile and abroad through the consular network. Along these lines, he welcomed the installation of a Carabineros office inside the Carrera building: "It provides us with an established and permanent communication space, which will undoubtedly be a strong bond that will continue to unite us".

At the end of the ceremony, the Minister of Foreign Affairs received the Carabineros de Chile medal of merit from General Soto for the close support of the Ministry to the work of the Carabineros. This same recognition was received by the General Consular Director, Raúl Sanhueza.

The Chancellor, for his part, presented a gift in recognition of the Director of Carabineros and the institution he leads.
