Dirantartica brings together representatives of the National Branch of the CCAMLR

The 103rd meeting of the national branch of the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR) was held today in Valparaíso. The conference, jointly organized by the Directorate of Antarctica and the Undersecretariat of Fisheries and Aquaculture, was attended by representatives of the public and national business sector, and incorporated via a connection from Punta Arenas, professionals from the Chilean Antarctic Institute as well as businessmen whose vessels from the Magallanes Region and Chilean Antarctica carry out fishing operations for deep-sea cod and Antarctic krill in southern waters.

During the meeting, updates were made on inspections, observations, scientific and protection work, as well as the preparatory work required for the next meeting of the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR), to be held in Hobart, Australia, between October 22 and November 2 of this year. There was also a comprehensive presentation on the results of the recent extraordinary meeting of the Council on Antarctic Policy.
