On his second day visiting Japan, Foreign Minister Roberto Ampuero met with the Mayor of Osaka, Hirofumi Yoshimura, and conveyed a message from the President of the Republic, Sebastián Piñera, confirming that Chile will support his bid to host the 2025 World Expo.

The Secretary of State visited the facilities where the Expo will be located, if it is a winner, and learned about details of the project.

Osaka is an important industrial and commercial centre in Japan. After the conurbation of Tokyo and Yokohama, it is the third largest urban center in the country, with about 28 million inhabitants. The city is the capital of the Kansai region, where the cities of Kyoto and Kobe are also located. The port of Osaka is Brother Port with Valparaiso.
