The Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, Edgardo Riveros, paid a working visit to Israel on Sunday, June 1, on which occasion he held a meeting with the Director General of the Israeli Chancery, Nissim Ben-Shitrit, and a working luncheon with the Assistant Director General and Director of the International Cooperation Agency for Development, Daniel Carmon. Prior to these visits, the Vice-Minister visited the "Yad Vashem" Holocaust Memorial in Jerusalem.
At the meeting with Ambassador Ben Shitrit both authorities highlighted the good standing of bilateral relations based on common values, and shared ideas on issues of mutual interest, especially regarding the recent decision of the Israeli government to strengthen relations with Latin America.
In this framework, it was discussed about the vision of the Chilean government on the Pacific Alliance, of which Israel is an observer State and its link with other integration schemes, and the next visit to Chile of Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman next July.
Vice-Minister Riveros took the opportunity to inform on the granting of the agreement by the Chilean government to the new Israeli Ambassador to Chile, Rafael Eldad.
At the luncheon, the two authorities agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas of interest to the two countries and to implement the effective triangular cooperation agreement for the benefit of third developing countries, as well as the need to improve trade.
