The Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs, Edgardo Riveros, met this morning with the Deputy Secretary of the Organization of American States, Ambassador Néstor Méndez.

At the hearing, both authorities highlighted the good level of relations between our country and the hemispheric organization. They also deepened the perspectives and challenges that cooperation in areas of great social impact, such as childhood and adolescence, has for the countries of the region. The Deputy Secretary General thanked Undersecretary Riveros for the willingness and leadership of the Government of Chile in implementing various cooperation programs and projects with the OAS.

Earlier, the Undersecretary accompanied President Michelle Bachelet at the opening of the XIII Annual Conference of the Inter-American Government Procurement Network (IGCP) "Value for Money in Public Purchases", held at the Plaza El Bosque Hotel in Las Condes.

In that meeting, the President highlighted the achievements in the field of government procurement and said that "they are a good example of the things we have done well," explaining that Chile currently has a public market that involves more than 123,000 suppliers of all sizes, especially micro and small, who sell their goods and services to the State, through the electronic platform of public procurement, one of the most open and transparent in the region.

The IGCP is the highest level of dialogue, exchange, organization and management of the network and is the most relevant technical forum for disseminating progress in the development of government procurement in the Americas.
