The Under Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Edgardo Riveros, held an audience with the Canadian Ambassador in Chile, Marcel Lebleu, due to the end of his diplomatic mission.
Under Secretary Riveros highlighted the strong historic bonds that exist between Chile and Canada, which have been characterised by an active bilateral agenda in fundamental areas such as human rights, environment and international trade.
In turn, he also emphasised how Ambassador Lebleu supported issues, such as gender equality and women empowerment, that have experienced important advances in recent times, particularly with the introduction of a chapter regarding gender and trade in the Chilean-Canadian Free Trade Agreements.
On a political level, Under Secretary Riveros recalled how during the management of the Canadian Ambassador, and as proof of the excellent condition of the bilateral relations, President Bachelet visited Canada in June 2017; alongside with multiple visits from authorities from both countries during the current year.
