The deadline for applying for one of the five full scholarships for undergraduate studies offered by the University of Tarapacá for prominent Bolivian students is January 16, 2015.

The objective of this "Transborder Scholarship" is to promote academic integration between Chile and Bolivia, one of the fundamental purposes of this university. It also seeks to give Bolivian students the chance to build skills and get training, while interacting with their Chilean counterparts.

The "Transborder Scholarship" includes full tuition; support for accommodation and food, equivalent to about US $300 per month; and monetary support for buying a yearly return bus ticket from Arica to Bolivia.

To apply for the scholarship, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Bolivian nationality and residence in Bolivia;
• High school diploma the same year of the scholarship application;
• High school transcript, validated by the Consulate of Chile;
• Letter of recommendation from the educational establishment certifying the applicant's academic excellence.

Applications may be submitted at the Consulate of Chile nearest to your home.

Tarapacá University has three campuses in the city of Arica, and one in Iquique. It has extensive academic offerings, with a highly trained faculty with a focus on research.
