President Piñera appoints new Chilean Ambassadors abroad

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Ampuero, informed that the President of the Republic, Sebastián Piñera, has appointed new Chilean Ambassadors abroad. These are Patricio Becker in Guyana and Romilio Gutiérrez in the Dominican Republic, who have already received their respective approvals.

Patricio Becker

Ambassador Becker is a graduate of the "Andrés Bello" Diplomatic Academy and has a degree in Architecture from the University of Bio-Bio. In addition, he has a degree in Foreign Trade from the Universidad Iberoamericana de México.

He has served in the Chilean Embassies in Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, Australia and Japan. He currently served as Consul General of Chile in Vancouver, Canada.

He has also served in the Multilateral Policy and Protocol Directorates; he has been Head of Cabinet of the Director General of Foreign Policy and the Director General Consular. In addition, he has served as Deputy Director General of Protocol and as Deputy Director of Europe Management.

Romilio Gutierrez

Ambassador Gutiérrez has a degree in Physics and Mathematics and is a State Professor at the University of Talca. He holds a Master's degree in Human Resources and Education, both from Universidad Gabriela Mistral. He is currently studying a Senior MBA in Business Administration at the ESE Business School of the Universidad de Los Andes.

He began his work experience as a teacher at the San Juan School in the municipality of Colbún. He was deputy from 2010 to 2018, representing District 39 of the Maule Region. He has also been Mayor of Colbún, Dean of the Faculty of Education of the University of Computer Science, Director of Education in the Municipality of Las Condes and in the Municipality of Santiago.
