Pedro Ramírez to be new Ambassador in Venezuela

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Heraldo Muñoz, announced that the President of Chile, Michele Bachelet, appointed Pedro Ramírez Ceballos as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Chile to Venezuela after that country granted its agrément.

Ambassador Ramírez is a civil engineer from Universidad de Chile. He was Deputy of the Osorno Province (1969 - 1973) and Minister of the portfolios of Mining and of Housing and Urban Development during the last year of President Salvador Allende's government.

During his exile in Venezuela, he worked as a teacher and researcher at the Center for Development Studies (CENDES) of Universidad Central de Venezuela.  He was head of the Christian Left Party and co-founder of the Party for Democracy.

Ambassador Ramírez worked privately as an engineer until 2010. He is currently a member of the Political Commission of the Citizen Left Party of Chile.
