Today, Thursday November the 9th, in the framework of the 39th General Conference of UNESCO, held in Paris, was the election of the countries that will make up the Intergovernmental Council of the International Hydrological Programme (IHP) of UNESCO, during the period 2018-2021, and Chile was re-elected to this be a part of this body.

IHP is the only intergovernmental programme of the United Nations system devoted to research, education and capacity-building in hydrology. Implemented in 6-year phases, and since 2014 in 8-year phases, the Programme promotes and supports hydrological research and supports Member States in research and training. It is currently in its eighth phase, which will take place during the 2014-2021 phase.

This is an important achievement for our country, because in this way it will continue to contribute, within the Intergovernmental Council, its experience and capabilities in dealing with local, regional and global challenges related to water.
