Minister Ampuero participates in the opening ceremony of the IX Chile-Argentina Binational Meeting

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Ampuero, participated this morning in the opening ceremony of the IX Binational Meeting of Ministers of Chile Argentina.

The meeting was attended by Chilean and Argentine authorities including Ministers of State, Argentine Governors and Chilean Mayors.

During his speech, the Chancellor highlighted the good relations between the two countries and declared: "The aim of this mega integration exercise is to identify the precise commitments and to monitor their fulfilment within a specific time frame". He added: "We consider the existence of procedures and mechanisms for monitoring each of these agreements to be very important so that they do not simply remain declarations".

The work of this meeting focused on six areas: Infrastructure, Border Facilitation and Connectivity for Integration; Economic Integration for Development; Sustainable Management of the Environment and Natural Resources; Security and Defense for Integration; Cultural and Human Integration; and Cooperation for Human Development.

At the end of his speech, the Secretary of State thanked those present "for the time and effort invested by their respective institutions to make this meeting a success".

"I am convinced that together we must continue to push forward the broad and dynamic bilateral agenda that unites us today, in order to continue to make our strategic partnership denser, stronger and more forward-looking," he concluded.
