Foreign Minister Ampuero ends his tour of northern Chile with a visit to the Antofagasta Region

Friday, June 22, 2018

The tour of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Ampuero, to the north of the country ends today with a visit to the Antofagasta Region. His three-day trip aimed to show the Chancellery's interest in the extreme areas and how foreign policy brings concrete benefits to people.

Today's day begins with a meeting of the Chancellor with the Mayor of the Antofagasta Region, Marco Antonio Díaz.

Later, he will meet with a group of women entrepreneurs, who have been helped thanks to the work of ProChile's regional office. It should be noted that one of Chile's challenges is to help more women's enterprises join exports, as their participation is key to the country's development.

ProChile has led the work in this area through the MujerExporta program, whose central purpose is to contribute to greater equality between men and women in access to and opportunities for participation in international trade.

The Minister's tour will end with a visit to the facilities of the Port of Antofagasta. There he will see the functioning of the French-Paraguayan warehouse, where goods that leave and enter Paraguay are stored. The Secretary of State stressed on 20 April, in a meeting he held with Paraguayan Foreign Minister Eladio Loizaga, that relations with that country "are optimal, we have the interest and will to intensify them, and at the same time the will to accelerate and deepen the integration of our region".
