Claudia Serrano to be new Ambassador of Chile to the OECD

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Heraldo Muñoz, announced that the President of Chile, Michelle Bachelet, decided to appoint Claudia Serrano as the new Ambassador of Chile to the Paris-based Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

Claudia Serrano has an extensive track record in consulting, research and teaching. During the first government of President Bachelet, she was Minister of Labor and Social Security and Undersecretary for Administrative and Regional Development at the Ministry of the Interior. While holding these prominent positions, she participated in the definition and implementation of public policy and played a key coordinating role with the private sector and the civil society, multilateral organizations and political stakeholders.

During the same period, she was involved in several initiatives at the international level.  Most notable among them was her participation in the OECD Territorial Development Policy Committee; Labour Ministerial Meetings of the OAS, ILO and OECD and ministerial meetings organized by the Inter-American Development Bank and ECLAC.

She is currently the Executive Director of the private non-profit organization RIMISP - Latin American Center for Rural Development.

The new ambassador holds a bachelor's degree in Sociology from Universidad Católica de Chile and a PhD in the same area from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris.
