Chile’s Foreign Ministry building joins “Turn the world UN blue” campaign

As part of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations (UN), the José Miguel Carrera Building which houses the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, joined the campaign "Turn the world UN blue" which is part the commemoration activities of the world organization. On Friday evening, the UN flag was raised on the roof.

La Moneda Palace and the Costanera Center tower in Santiago will be lit up blue (the distinctive color of the world body) on Saturday evening.

From New Zealand, a blue light will travel the world to light over 300 famous monuments and buildings blue in more than 75 countries to mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of UN.

UN Day has been celebrated every October 24 since 1948, and marks the entry into force of the United Nations Charter.

Among the world's famous buildings to participate in this event are: the Great Wall of China; the Pyramids of Giza, Egypt; Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro; the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg; and the city of Petra in Jordan.
