Chancellor Roberto Ampuero meets with representatives in Chile from Canada, Germany, New Zealand and Australia to learn about their experiences in migration

This Friday, Chancellor Roberto Ampuero received the Ambassadors of New Zealand, Jacqueline Caine; of Canada, Patricia Peña and the Chargé d'affaires of Germany, Peter Sauer and Australia, Alice Quin, at the Foreign Ministry.

During the meeting, the Minister was accompanied by the Director of Consular Affairs, Raúl Sanhueza, as well as advisors from his cabinet.

The aim of the meeting was to hear from representatives of each of these countries about their successful experiences in migration and consular matters after facing an increase in immigration flows.

Thus, during the meeting, the ambassadors and chargé d'affaires presented the main measures they took to address an issue that was identified at the meeting as a priority issue for the international community. Chancellor Ampuero, meanwhile, thanked the diplomatic representatives for sharing the experiences of their respective countries.

Among the measures developed by these countries are the incorporation of new technologies for applications and their respective review; programs for the integration of migrants; and conditions for special visa applications.

This meeting is taking place in the midst of the process of reforming our immigration policy, announced by President Sebastián Piñera in April, to ensure a safe, orderly and regular process.

Last Wednesday, Foreign Minister Roberto Ampuero highlighted the correct functioning of the new measures in terms of granting visas, both for Venezuela with the Democratic Responsibility visa and for Haiti.
