Tuesday, 1 October, 2019
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Teodoro Ribera, participated today in a working meeting led by the President of the Republic, Sebastián Piñera, and the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, Patricia Espinosa.
The objective of the meeting was to analyze our country's progress in the organization of the COP 25 summit to be held in Santiago in December this year. The ministers of Environment, Carolina Schmidt; Agriculture, Antonio Walker; and Energy, Juan Carlos Jobet, also participated.

At the end of the meeting, the Chancellor highlighted the role of our country in the organization of a summit of this magnitude and added that "great efforts have been made to make this a successful summit, where important agreements are reached".

Minister Teodoro Ribera recalled that the environment was one of the three axes of Chile's participation in the 74th UN General Assembly, when the President of the Republic, Sebastián Piñera, sent a clear message to the world regarding the need to act against the effects of accelerating climate change.

The Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, Patricia Espinosa, thanked "the excellent collaboration of President Sebastián Piñera and his personal commitment to the upcoming Climate Change Conference in Santiago. Our teams are working closely together to make COP 25 a success and to help increase climate ambition".
