Chancellor Ampuero receives donated computers for Chilean associations in Argentina

Tuesday, October 16, 2018

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Ampuero, received from the Chilenter Foundation a donation of computers for 15 associations of Chileans residing in Argentina, the country where the largest community of Chilean compatriots in the world lives.

The equipment was reconditioned by the Foundation to be delivered to nonprofit, legally constituted Chilean associations and clubs abroad. This year, the beneficiaries were fellow residents of the following cities: Bahía Blanca, San Salvador de Jujuy, Bariloche, San Nicolás de Arroyos, San Luis, La Rioja, Córdoba, Neuquén, El Calafate, Azul, Río Grande, Buenos Aires, Trelew and Comodoro Rivadavia. There will be about 2 thousand Chileans favored by this contribution.

"We are very happy to bring these Chileans who live outside our borders to Chile, because we know they carry Chile in their hearts," said the Chancellor, since this donation will allow the associations "to connect with the world, with their country, and maintain activity among them".

This work is coordinated by the Directorate General of Consular Affairs and Immigration and aims to increase the social use of technologies among members of associations of compatriots, building capacities to improve their quality of life and contributing to their insertion into society.

The Chilean consulates in Argentina, where the beneficiary associations reside, will hand over the computers donated by the Chilenter Foundation, a non-profit institution dependent on the Socio-Cultural Direction of the Presidency of the Republic, led by the First Lady of the Nation, Cecilia Morel.
