Deputy Foreign Secretary Edgardo Riveros led today, together with the President of the Federal Public Service of the Kingdom of Belgium, Dirk Achten, the meeting of Political Consultations between the two countries at the level of Vice-Ministers.
The meeting, which was considered to be very significant, sought to give continuity to the topics dealt with in the consultations held in Brussels in 2015, reaffirming the excellent relations existing between Chile and Belgium. In this context, the smooth bilateral political dialogue was highlighted and they shared their common vision on various regional, global and multilateral issues, taking into account their status as like-minded countries.
The present meeting also highlighted the level of cooperation between the two countries in the public and private spheres in areas such as trade and investment, as well as in the development of the renewable energy industry and scientific research; astronomy, education and human capital formation, culture, Antarctic and environmental issues, among others. Similarly, the importance of the modernisation process of the Association Agreement between Chile and the European Union was particularly stressed.
