The Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs, Edgardo Riveros, inaugurated today the Colloquium "Towards the Bicentennial: Convergences between Chile and Peru 200 years after a common feat". This initiative seeks to generate a dialogue between academics and opinion makers from both countries.

The activity was held in the Chancellor Orlando Letelier Hall and was attended by Peruvian Ambassador to Chile, Jorge Valdés and former Chancellor Allan Wagner and other high authorities of the Peruvian delegation. On Chile's side, the Ambassador to Peru, Roberto Ibarra, the Director of the Ambassador Juan Somavia Diplomatic Academy, and distinguished academics, researchers and experts in Chilean-Peruvian relations participated.

Undersecretary Riveros stressed the importance of the link between both countries throughout history, as well as the convergence of values and interests that currently exists.

He especially highlighted the boost given to the relationship with Peru in the last decade, highlighting a series of public and private initiatives, including the Binational Cabinet held in Lima this July.

In this regard, he invited the participants in the various working groups to continue to strengthen the close relations that exist and to project a future of convergence between our nations.
