Foreign Minister receives Brazilian Secretary General for Foreign Affairs

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Heraldo Muñoz, met this afternoon in audience with the Secretary General for Foreign Affairs of Brazil, Ambassador Marcos Galvão.

During the meeting, the authorities highlighted the historic friendship that unites both countries, as well as the intense bilateral and regional work agenda that unites them.

Minister Muñoz also stressed the importance that our country attaches to the first meeting of the 2+2 Mechanism that will bring together the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defence of Chile and Brazil, as well as to the Bioceanic Corridor initiative that will unite Puerto Murtinho with the Ports of Northern Chile, which reflect the depth of the bilateral relationship.

For his part, Ambassador Galvão, along with thanking the courtesy of being received in audience, delivered to Minister Muñoz a letter addressed to President Michelle Bachelet, inviting her to participate in a meeting of Presidents of MERCOSUR and the Pacific Alliance, within the framework of the LI Summit of Mercosur and Associated States, to be held in Brasilia on 21 December.

In this regard, Minister Muñoz thanked for the invitation and stressed that our Ministry will continue to promote complementarity and rapprochement between the two regional integration mechanisms.
