The Directorate of International and Human Security is the executive unit  under the Directorate General of Foreign Policy responsible for implementing the Foreign Policy of Chile, at a bilateral and multilateral level, in order to meet the national objectives and interests regarding: Preservation of Global Peace and Security; Disarmament Instruments; Arms Control and Non-Proliferation; Human Security Instruments; Public and Citizen Security; Development and Security of Chilean Aviation and Telecommunications; Promotion and Use of the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space; Multilateral Promotion of the Human Security Paradigm; Linkage and Bilateral Cooperation on Defense; and Preservation of the Security of Electronic Communications , including Cyber Security.

- To this end, it is responsible for coordinating with relevant national and international organizations the foreign policy on these issues and taking action to promote and consolidate the interests of Chile in the context of international relations.
- At a domestic level, it coordinates and participates in various inter-agency thematic working groups, in order to promote the proper implementation and enforcement of international conventions and Chile’s commitments in the areas under its responsibility.
- It also manages the technical cooperation of international organizations and governments of other countries to improve the country’s capacity to address the new threats to the security of state and population.
- In order to fulfill these objectives, the Directorate of International and Human Security has three sub-directorates:
