The Foreign Ministers who are hereby undersigned wish to express their regret at the acts of violence in Caracas, where several citizens, including parliamentarians, have been assaulted, and condemn all acts of violence regardless of their origin.

In this context, they reaffirm that the authorities have the responsibility to guarantee the right to peaceful demonstrations and free expression of ideas and call for an investigation, as promised by the government, into the responsibility for the violence.

They also encourage the resolution of differences through peaceful dialogue and democratic methods, hoping that the facilitation process carried out by the former Presidents can lead to positive results, and within a reasonable time, for the benefit of all parties involved.
